I'm Rachel, and I help women in business grown their businesses. I partner with my clients to design solutions to their problems. I pride myself on my research and listening skills to dig deep to find solutions unique to my clients.
When I moved to Hamilton, from Muskoka, the city drew me into the many flavours of hamburgers and the many new experiences and opportunities this city has to offer. I fell in love with the combination of an urban lifestyle and the small-town community charm. I am proud to call Hamilton my home.
I have formal training in graphic and web design through Canadore College and McMaster University CCE. I have been awarded my Program Achievement award, various scholarships and graduated with a 4.0 average in both Graphic and Web Design programs. In these programs, I learned fundamental design skills to save my clients time and money by effectively creating designs that work, as well as front-end web development skills and strategies to bring business to your customers in today's climate.
When I am not collaborating with clients, I am always trying to learn new skills by reading, doing tutorials, and taking classes to keep my skills fresh and up to date.
I also enjoy spending time with my husband, James, and our dog, Ellie, in the backyard, reading with a coffee or getting my hands dirty in the garden.

Visual identity design is the creation of visual elements to communicate your company’s personality to your customers. These visual elements usually start with a logo, colour palette, font choices (typography), patterns and evolve into different physical and digital products like business cards and websites.
Brand Guidelines are when you organize all the branding elements of the company into one document. This document describes the best practices to use the elements and provides examples to use the branding elements.
Brand Guidelines are a great way to streamline your branding for internal company use to make sure everything you put out into the public is consistent.
A customer persona is a profile that represents your target market, the people that are the most likely to buy your product or service. Customer personas are valuable to understand who you are striving to connect with fully. They are key to keep in mind when creating marketing materials and visual elements. A customer persona makes it easier to keep your target market in mind by “putting a face” to your target market.

Clients go through this process during every project. Depending on the extent of the project, the timeline of the process varies.
During this phase, my goal is to get to know you and your business. We go through what you would like to achieve with the project. We work through this together during a Design Consultation meeting via video-chat or phone call. The Design Consultation allows me to get a grasp of what makes your business tick and the problems that you need help solving. For example, increase your audience reach, gain exposure, increase revenue through an E-Commerce website, and create a new identity that better targets your audience.
Our meeting notes create the design brief and proposal of the project, to allow everyone to be one the same page and make any necessary changes if there are misunderstandings.
Now that I fully understand the goals of the project and whom you are targeting. I start developing different ideas that would be the best solutions for you. I present these ideas to the client to discuss and collaborate with them to find the best design solution for your business. For example, when creating a visual identity, approximately three concepts are presented to the client, and we move forward with one single idea.
We move forward with the single concept and continue to develop it into our final vision. During this step, we would finalize the logo design, develop the website, design the poster and revise them until the project is precisely what the design brief describes.
During this stage, we go over the design with a fine-tooth comb. I make sure everything is good to be launched and released. At this stage, I receive final design approval and get any print products ready for the printer. I will also finalize the website to give the client access. The final stage of the process is when we get all out ducks in a row, and all our T's crossed to tie up any loose ends.
